MADD Camp

MADD camp (which stands for Music, Art, Drama, & Dance) is a week long camp devoted to the performing arts. You don't have to be a stellar musician to come and enjoy this fun-filled week. The majority of our time is spent preparing a musical that we then present to different churches over the weekend. Other activities throughout the week include karaoke night, movie night, campfires, and a trip to the pool.

The Tour: The highlight of MADD camp is definitely the weekend tour. We spend Friday night through Sunday night travelling to different churches and presenting our musical. We eat great food, sleep in church gym's, ride on hot, sweaty busses and have a wonderful time. Ask any alumni camper and they will tell you that this is what makes the week worthwhile.

The Musical: This year's musical is "Jailhouse Rocks" which is a musical set in, of all places, camp! It really is a lot of fun, with great choreography and a fantastic set design. (Did I mention that the campers put the set together as well?)

The Try-outs: Try-outs (which are optional) for solos and dramatic roles will take place the same day as our camp rally and will be held in the girl's dorm. Bring a solo you've prepared and be ready to do a little acting as well. You can pick up your practice CD and a copy of the musical book at this time, too. If you REALLY want a part in the play, do your best to be there. If you can't be there, please send a recording of yourself singing and acting.

The Extra information: You will need to bring clothes that you can paint in, dance in, and sweat in. You will also need to bring a pair of khaki pants, or khaki colored capri pants for the musical presentation. We are a part of the church services and should dress accordingly.

Other things you will need include: $ for our missionary, $ for one lunch and some snacks on the road (snack $ is optional), your bible, a small overnight bag to take on the road and a great attititude. Check the main page on the camp website for more information on what to bring.

Camp will end on the 15th at First Christian Church in Greenville. Please plan on being picked up there!
